The Taliban arrested Fahim Azimi, an activist for girls' education and a colleague of the Afghan girls' robotics team, about two months ago.
Roya Mehboob, the founder of Robotics Team, confirmed Azimi's arrest and said that the Taliban arrested him and his colleagues on charges of "helping the girls of Robotics Team leave" and "organizing protests."
Mrs. Mehboob said that Mr. Azimi and his colleagues have been in the custody of the Taliban for 25 months.
Sources told Afghanistan International that Mr. Azimi was arrested from Karte Chahar in the third district of Kabul city along with a colleague.
According to Roya Mahboob, the Digital Citizen Fund, which Fahim Azimi is in charge of in Kabul, has provided education for thousands of female students. Roya Mehboob is one of the founders of this educational center. He said that Mr. Azimi was the director of this center in Afghanistan.
On Wednesday, he wrote on X's social page that Mr. Azimi had a license for educational activities and was also active in the field of humanitarian aid.
According to Mrs. Mehboob, the Taliban have accused this educational activist of cooperating in the departure of the Afghan robotics team after the fall of Kabul and organizing protests against the Taliban.
The head of Afghanistan's robotic girls team asked the United Nations Mission in Afghanistan, UNAMA and other international organizations to take immediate action to free Fahim and his colleague.
