The USA is Spending 32 million dollars to upgrade a Filipino Air Base

The 32 million dollars is part of a larger 500 million dollar spending package to upgrade Filipino military infrastructure.  In this case, the airbase is located near Manila.

The 32 Million dollars will be spent on installing a new runway.  One disgruntled American says, "32 million on a parking lot."

The US and Filipino Militaries both agree that this is a good deal and both forces look forward to increased joint training exercises.

The primary purpose of these base upgrades is a deterrent to Chinese activities and aggression in the West Philippines Sea area of the South China Sea.
