The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has come up with a new social media policy. In the cabinet meeting held last Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Digital Media Policy-2024 was approved. In this, a provision has been made for advertising to the agencies and firms working on social media. However, the opposition has started raising questions on this policy. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has termed it as 'BJP's bribe for favoritism'. At the same time, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has described the policy as another way to suppress the truth.The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to implement the 'Uttar Pradesh Digital Media Policy-2024' with the aim of making people aware of the achievements of public welfare schemes in the state and the benefits derived from it. This policy was approved in the cabinet meeting held on 27 August. The process and guideline related to how digital media handles operators / digital media influencers will get advertising recognition was released on 28 August.Who will benefit from this?
Under the new social media policy of Uttar Pradesh government, this policy is for digital media handles, pages, channels, account holders, operators, digital media influencers and content writers or agencies/firms associated with them operating from within and outside the state. Those who provide information about government programs and schemes and the benefits of welfare schemes to people through digital medium will be linked with the Advertisement Information and Public Relations Department of Uttar Pradesh government. Then they will be listed in the department and advertisements will be given as per the rules.
