Disclaimer - This is not to scare any expectant mother but just to prepare her a little beforehand.
C- section is termed to be 'painless' but it actually is 'very painful' the next day after surgery once the anaesthesia effect wears off.. To sit straight or even the first walk would feel extremely painful due to stitches.
Sometimes you may experience lightning bolt or spiky sensations near the suture area and would think if you would ever be able to get back to your normal self again. It could get difficult for you to carry your baby or even feed, so invest in a good feeding pillow. Passing your first stools or urine would be a little difficult at first as sitting on the toilet seat could get strainous. The sutures shouldn't be wet and should be kept dry atleast till a week or till the time stitches are removed.
It is not advisable to squat or lift anything heavier than your baby as the sutures require time to heal. You can resume exercise or any other strenuous physical activity only after 6 weeks postpartum after consulting your gynaecologist. ...and then there are people who are ever ready to judge a mother and comment that she took 'the easy way' out.... Ya right!
