Totally different reactions by police in totally different situations. No excuses for the anarchists at the Capitol. They are unAmerican and an embarrassment to democratic values.
Al Qaeda Terrorists killed thousands of innocents in twin tower bombing, in retaliation NATO led forces attached Afghanistan and killed many and continued to kill for many years. Lot of innocent civilians got killed in Afghanistan. So terrorists and NATO soldiers and their commanders are same ? It is not. Like BLM riots and the Capitol Riots are not the same.
Capitol Hill is supposed to be the second most protected place on earth. It is definitely the most sacred place of democracy. I am not an American but if there was one image when I had to think of democracy that will come to my mind was the Capitol Building.
Compare the images frame by frame: how BLM protestors were dealt by police in the streets and how pro-trump protestors were freely roaming inside the most sacred seat of democracy , also one of the most secure buildings in the United States.
If police action on BLM protestors in random streets are anything to go by, if they ever came even close to the stairs of the Capitol building, let alone took over it, there would be piles of dead bodies on those stairs.
Compare two images from BLM and Capitol Hill frame by frame to see how race plays in policing. The Capitol Hill riot was an attack on democracy, institutions based for sheer dictatorship tendencies.
Imagine that the pro trump protestors were replaced by a bunch of foreigners in the Capitol Hill, it is a terrorist attack. Now you replace BLM protestors with same set of foreigners, it still at the max is a violent protest but not terror attack. So both are not same.
What comes out clearly in this episode is deep rooted racism in policing and politics.
