This is nice.
Much appreciated
This is why I often take a stand and attempt to give a voice to the oppressed through my work. Most of the time, I try to depict the woes of a woman and how generational trauma and patriarchy affect her. Corruption and how it benefits a single person by crushing others have also been a topic that I try to shed light on through my work.
The uprisal of OTT platforms and digital movies has led to a decrease in the popularity of in-person offline theatre performances. And I also think that it has also declined in the quality of performances that are seen today. When you consider all the movies from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, you can clearly see that they exude the essence of theatre. The way the actors move their bodies and the way they express their emotions connects the audience to the character and I think this is something that is highly lacking in the performances we see these days. This could be a reason why I haven’t visited movie theatres in a long time.
I do try to shed light on the theatre art form. Recently, I and a bunch of other professionals, both national and international, had worked quite hard on a project in which we were attempting to bring theatre to OTT platforms by showing the process that goes on behind putting up a good play. But unfortunately, it was entirely shut down because of the lack of funds we were provided with. We were successful in bringing this project to fruition in foreign countries, but not in India.
To everyone who has a passion for theatre, I would suggest you not just act but breathe the character in, and live through them. You would see how delightful it is to delve deep into a good character and analyze them carefully. Theatre requires a lot of hard work, but when you put up a good performance, it can be transformative, not just for you, but for everyone else as well.
