Tigers and jaguars are among the few big cats that don't mind going in the water, where they have been known to regularly catch their prey just as well as they do on land. This goes without saying, they're both excellent swimmers. But when it comes to which of the two is a better swimmer, the tiger comes out on top because it is better equipped to propelling its body through the water thanks to the stronger muscles than its spotted counterpart.
Tigers can swim up to 18 miles every day as they patrol their region, especially those found in the Sundarbans. In fact, they have been seen to attack and easily dispatch big games such as deer, antelope, wild boar, even buffalo and crocodile!, while submerged completely in the water.
Now, jaguars are really good as well. They regularly prey on fish and caimans and they do it well. It's seldom a prey can escape a jaguar. However, tiger preys on and successfully hunts crocodile which is inarguably far bigger and stronger—also a better hunter, than its cousin. I'd say tigers are better swimmers.
