Today, across the globe we observe World Health Day, which also marks 75 years of the World Health Organization.

If there is one thread that underscores the evolution of mankind it is that of its health and quality of life. It's an unparalleled journey, particularly in the last century, when public health challenges of the largest magnitude have required us all to come together with science, solutions and solidarity. 

Let this day be a celebration of not just how far we have come but stand as a reminder of all that needs to be still done. Health challenges are growing more complex with increasing lifestyle complexity and our efforts need to grow commensurately, with innovation, application and ingenuity.

My salute to the ceaseless research, the labyrinthine healthcare network, the personnel and the commitment that have got us so far and will take us into the future.
