In 1978, the cat cartoon character Garfield made his debut. Garfield, everyone's favourite lazy, lasagna-loving cat, first appeared 44 years ago in a comic strip. Garfield initially showed up in print on June 19, 1978, and while being syndicated in only 41 newspapers at the time, Garfield would eventually appear in over 2,500 newspapers worldwide! Garfield is still a popular character today. Several TV series, computer games, feature films, books, and holiday specials have featured the comic strip.
