3. Steven Gerrard- 710 games
On November 29, 1998, Gerrard made his first-team Liverpool debut as a late replacement in a Premier League game against Blackburn Rovers.
In his first season, he replaced injured captain Jamie Redknapp in center midfield and made thirteen appearances. He occasionally played on the right flank as well, although he barely made an impact during the brief amount of match time he was given, which he blamed on nervousness.
Gerrard saw himself mostly as a defensive player who focused more on making important tackles than helping the team advance. In the 2014–15 season, his final at Anfield, Gerrard surpassed 700 Liverpool appearances, following in the footsteps of his close friend and longtime comrade Carragher.
With a staggering 186 goals scored by the Academy graduate, the talismanic offensive midfielder is the only player in the club's top five for both games and goals.
While leading the Reds for 12 of his 17 years on the first team, Gerrard won the European Cup, FA Cup, and League Cup.
4. Ray Clemence and 5. Emlyn Hughes- 665 games each
Even in their final combined number of appearances for the club, Clemence and Hughes' Liverpool careers were similar to one another.
Over their careers, both Merseyside greats made 665 appearances for the team. Both were key players on the team that led the club to victories and were developed under Bill Shankly's supervision as a manager.
Both were acquired by Shankly in 1967 and would play a crucial role in the team's extraordinary domestic and European success over the following ten years.
The Reds won four league titles, two European Cups, two UEFA Cups, and an FA Cup when the two England internationals played for the team.
