After being signed in March 1981, his Anfield career got underway at the start of the following season. In each of his first five seasons in the starting lineup, he played more than 60 games, including every league game.
Grobbelaar had won six titles at the time of his final game in addition to a European Cup, three FA Cups, and three League Cups.
10. Alan Hansen - 620 Games
Liverpool spent £100,000 on Hansen. On September 24, 1977, he made his league debut at Anfield. The host team, Derby County, was defeated by Terry McDermott's lone goal. The next month, on October 19, Hansen scored his first goal in a European Cup second-round match at Anfield. In the 14th minute of Liverpool's 5-1 demolition of Dynamo Dresden of East Germany, he scored the game's first goal.
Hansen joins a select group of just 10 players who have appeared more than 600 times for the Reds; the Scotsman broke that barrier during the 1989–1990 campaign.
During his time at Anfield, the graceful center defender contributed significantly to eight league championships, three European Cups, two FA Cups, and three League Cups. He was also tough and tenacious.
A third of those outings were also as captain, with Hansen leading Liverpool to their lone Double to date in the 1985–86 season.
