#2 Roy Paul (294 appearances)
Paul was a Welsh halfback who played for Manchester City and Swansea Town in professional football. He also played for Wales more than 30 times and is recognized as one of Wales' greatest players in history.
In 1955 and 1956, Roy Paul, a courageous defender, guided City to back-to-back FA Cup finals, winning the latter after pledging to make up for the previous year's misery.
The Welshman, who earned 33 caps for his nation, set an example for the team both on and off the field by setting an optimistic tone that helped the team succeed in cup competitions.
Paul served as Manchester City's captain for seven years, guiding the team to consecutive FA Cup final appearances in 1955 and 1956, losing the first and winning the second. He took on the role of player-manager for Worcester City in 1957 before finishing his career as a lorry driver in his home country of South Wales. At age 82, he passed away in 2002.
#3 Dave Ewing (303 appearances)
Dave Ewing was a Scottish football player who played as a center-half for Manchester City and Crewe Alexandra. He also coached Hibernian for a brief period of time.
Mancunians signed him on June 10, 1949, after Manchester City saw him playing for Luncarty Juniors. He didn't make his first team debut until 3 January 1953 against Manchester United, which was four years later. He eventually made 279 appearances for City in all, scoring 1 goal.
The gifted Scotsman, who is only partially visible in the photo due to Cardiff striker Mel Charles, was part of a strong back line alongside Roy Paul that helped the team win the FA Cup in 1956.
Ewing recorded a record 10 own goals, but on the few occasions Bert Trautmann was overpowered, he made many vital goal-line clearances.
