Currently, the manager from Spain, Guti was formerly a professional offensive midfielder.

He participated in 542 official games for Real Madrid throughout his playing career, acting as vice-captain. He helped the team win 15 trophies, including three Champions League wins and five La Liga championships.

He participated in professional competitions with Beşiktaş in Turkey.

With Spain, Guti played 13 times after making his debut in 1999.

Guti joined Real Madrid's Cantera in 1986 and played there for most of his career, originally as a striker but subsequently switching to midfield. He made his first-team debut on December 2, 1995, in a 4-1 home victory over Sevilla FC; he had one goal in nine games by the end of the season.

In 1997, Guti played in 17 competitive games and added the La Liga and the Supercopa de Espana titles to his collection. He assisted the Merengues in winning the Intercontinental Cup and the UEFA Champions League in 1997–98, while also winning the UEFA European Under-21 Championship for himself.

He was mainly renowned for his exceptional crossing skills, however, he also scored a decent number of goals. He spent most of his career playing for Real Madrid, spending more than a decade doing so.

Míchel earned 66 caps for Spain from 1985 to 1992 and appeared for the nation in two World Cups (scoring four goals in the 1990 edition) and one European Championship. He began managing in 2005, most notably guiding Olympiacos to two Super League Greece championships.

Michel, who was born in Madrid and joined Real Madrid at the age of 13, his technique and physicality on the field instantly standing out, is the son of a football player who had to retire from the game at the age of 27 due to a car accident.  He advanced swiftly through the levels to the first team, making one appearance and scoring one goal during the 1981–82 campaign, which was a 2-1 away victory against CD Castellón on April 11, 1982.
