Longhurst joined Liverpool in 2013, and he helped the club win back-to-back FA WSL championships in 2013 and 2014. Following the termination of her contract, she departed Liverpool on May 22, 2018. Longhurst began playing for West Ham United on 9 August. Longhurst earned West Ham's first-ever FA WSL goal on 23 September against Arsenal, a 4-3 loss.

Flaherty was a past member of the Arsenal Ladies who got her start playing for the Millwall Lionesses. Before making her professional début in October 2015, she competed for England at the youth level while playing center back.
With her record-breaking 176th game performance in November 2022, Flaherty broke Jill Scott's prior mark for most appearances in the Women's Super League. Halfway through the 2022–23 WSL season, she declared her departure from football.
Former England Under-19 and Under-20 international Flaherty. She has previously competed for her nation at the Under-15 and Under-17 levels, and in September 2010 she earned her Under-23 squad debut against Germany.
Flaherty was not preferred by England head coach Hope Powell, but in December 2013, Powell's replacement, Mark Sampson, selected him for the first senior team. In October 2015, she started England's 2-1 loss to China in Yongchuan, earning her first international match.
