2. Death Note: Arguably one of the most popular anime of all time due to its compelling story and amazing characters. Every episode is intense, frightening, and bizarre and even without actual fight scenes, the mind games between Light and L seem like they are actually fighting. It’s full of twists and turns and it really makes you question: What exactly is justice?

3. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood: Edward Elric, a young, brilliant alchemist, has lost much in his twelve-year life: when he and his brother Alphonse try to resurrect their dead mother through the forbidden act of human transmutation, Edward loses his brother as well as two of his limbs. With his supreme alchemy skills, Edward binds Alphonse's soul to a large suit of armor.

4. Clannad After Story: This anime will really spark your emotions, you'll feel warm and fuzzy, laugh, and you WILL cry. A great feature of Clannad has to be the great use of music. In this anime, High school students Tomoya and Nagisa continue to grow their relationship. Ushio is the most adorable kid ever seen in any anime. Watch it and you’ll definitely cry when Ushio says, “Sanae-san told me, places that I can cry are in a toilet, or in daddy's arms.”

5. A Silent Voice: A young man is ostracized by his classmates after he bullies a deaf girl to the point where she moves away. Years later, he sets off on a path for redemption.
