Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have made their player retention and trade announcements for the upcoming 2023 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. Six players from the previous season have been retained, and two players have been traded in. The team will complete their squad by acquiring additional players through international signings and the draft, which is scheduled to take place in late June.
The CPL 2023 is set to kick off on August 16, with matches scheduled to be held in Barbados, Guyana, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad & Tobago. The final match of the tournament will take place on September 24.
Trinbago Knight Riders have retained a strong core of Caribbean players, including the likes of Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, Akeal Hosein, and Jayden Seales. These players have been instrumental in the team's previous successes and will continue to be key figures in their quest for further glory.
In addition to their retained players, the Knight Riders have also secured the services of two notable additions. Dwayne Bravo, who previously played for the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, will be making a return to the franchise. Mark Deyal, a talented batter, will join the Knight Riders from the Saint Lucia Kings, further strengthening the team's batting lineup.
It is pertinent to mention that the announcement of overseas players and draft picks for Trinbago Knight Riders in the upcoming 2023 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season will be made during the highly anticipated Republic Bank CPL draft show. It is scheduled to be broadcast on June 30, 2023.
Opening up on the venture, Phil Simmons, TKR Head Coach said: “We are very happy to be able to retain most of the Caribbean players from last year’s TKR squad. The experience of Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Nicholas Pooran coupled with Dwayne Bravo’s return gives our squad a very strong core.
In youngsters like Akeal Hosein, Jayden Seales, and Mark Deyal, we have some of the best young talent from Trinidad representing TKR.”
