Twenty Years Later, It's India vs Australia in the ICC World Cup Final Again!
In 2003 the ICC Cricket World Cup was contested in the continent of Africa for the first time ever and it turned out to be a hit. Eventually, two giants of Cricket, India and Australia would make it to the final, and deservingly so.
The Kangaroos were unbeaten in the whole tournament whereas India had just lost to Australia in their pool game and had beaten every other side in the run-up to the final.
Two-time champions back then, Australia batted first in Johannesburg scoring 359/2 in the first innings, effectively ending the game then and there courtesy of Ricky Ponting's 140 not out. In response, India were bundled out for 234 within 40 overs, gifting Australia their third ICC Cricket World Cup title.
Fast forward to 2023, the two foes will meet again on Sunday in Ahmedabad in front of a record home crowd for the Men in Blue. Will India get their revenge or will Australia win their sixth World Cup title? Let me know your thoughts...
