The first public version of iOS 17 / iPad OS 17 is no longer expected to include several previously promised features. These include the Journal application, collaborative Apple Music playlists, and AirDrop data transfer feature via the internet. The delay of these features has sparked interest among users who eagerly await the new OS rollout.
In addition to the already known features, several other functionalities have been delayed as well. The ability to respond to a message with any sticker via the Tapback menu in the Messages application is one such feature. Also, the display of a catch-up arrow for group conversations in the Messages application will not be available initially, which might disappoint several users who have been waiting for this feature.
Moreover, the synchronization of additional settings with Messages in iCloud such as SMS forwarding, sending and receiving accounts, and filters will not be available at the launch. Furthermore, the anticipated feature of SMS on all devices has been postponed, which might cause inconvenience to users who frequently use SMS communication across devices.
Another delayed feature which was expected to enhance user convenience is the improved intelligent detection of forms and automatic filling for PDFs. This feature was designed to make handling PDF documents easier and more efficient. To add to the list, the feature which allows connection of a nearby Apple ID with an already connected and approved iPhone or iPad has also been postponed.
