The improper disposal of waste in Srinagar is transforming a wetland into a wasteland, causing significant health concerns among residents. The city is producing 600 metric tons of garbage daily, which is being collected by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation and dumped at Achan. Across India, 62 million tonnes of waste are being generated annually, with much of it ending up untreated in landfills.
