Update: Barcelona might sign Bernardo Silva and Dani Olmo
Barcelona are considering an approach for a pair of high-profile attacking midfielders with reports of low release clauses supposedly written into both players’ new contracts.
Manchester City’s Portuguese international, Bernardo Silva, and Spanish attacker Dani Olmo of RB Leipzig both signed new contracts at their respective clubs over the summer, despite strong links – especially in Silva’s case – to a move away.
Although Silva’s new deal runs until 2026 and Olmo’s to 2027, the Spanish outlet reports that both players are now subject to affordable release clauses (generally speaking) of around €60m each. Both Barcelona and PSG were reportedly interested in spending more than that amount on Silva this summer, while Olmo has enjoyed a strong start to the season, scoring a hat-trick to help Leipzig beat Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup.
At 25, Olmo’s true value could easily surpass that €60m figure by the end of the season should his impressive form, playing in an advanced role for RBL, continue. Although now 29, Silva’s consistently high levels over recent years make him an attractive target for elite clubs looking for a top-level player in their prime.
