About 60% of women and 12% of men develop at least one UTI during their lifetime.

Most UTIs involve infection of lower urinary tract which can be spread to the upper urinary tract too if not treated on time.

It can be of different type:

1)Urethritis- which is infection of urethra, the tube which carries urine to the bladder.

2)pyelonephritis- when infection spreads to the kidneys.

3) cystitis -infection of the bladder.

Some known symptoms of UTI may include:

-incomplete emptying of bladder

-pelvic pain

-fever and chills

-burning sensation while peeing

-frequent urination

UTI can be prevented by wiping genital area from front to back; by not holding pee and keeping yourself hydrated.
