After Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's comments, all the pro-Khalistani supporters are supporting Trudeau as they feel he's voicing their opinion.
Now a US-based pro-Khalistan outfit has called on Sikh groups globally to pray on for the “chardi kalan (high spirits)” of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, hoping his accusations of an India hand in terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s killing marked “a more sympathetic approach” towards their cause.
Himmat Singh, coordinator of the World Sikh Parliament, said that his appeal for an “ardas (prayer)” for Trudeau was issued as the Canadian PM “had taken a stand in favour of the Sikh community”.
As reported by the TimesofIndia, sources said the primary objective of the appeal seemed to be to foster mutually beneficial, harmonious relationships between Trudeau and such groups.
“The collective hope is for a more sympathetic approach that may pave the way for the emergence of a formidable Khalistan lobby in Canada, capable of wielding influence over electoral outcomes,” said a former Sikh hardliner.
Such hardliners have come to reckon Trudeau’s statement on the murder of Nijjar this June, made in the Canadian parliament, as a major success of their movement. “They believe the Khalistan issue has now garnered international attention, partially attributed to the killing of Nijjar. The issue has also drawn the attention of the US, UK, and other countries,” said a source.
