Vizag Open 2024: Angad Cheema in solo lead followed by Aman and Aryan after round two.

Chandigarh’s Angad Cheema delivered a stunning 10-under 61, his personal best, to take the lead in round two of the Vizag Open 2024 at the East Point Golf Club. Cheema, currently fourth in the TATA Steel PGTI Ranking, now sits at 12-under 130, holding a four-shot lead. Patna’s Aman Raj is second at 8-under 134, followed by Bengaluru’s Aryan Roopa Anand at 7-under.

Cheema, aiming for his second PGTI title and his first in 11 years, moved up from tied 13th to first with an exceptional round that featured an eagle and eight birdies. His precise iron and wedge shots helped him sink several close-range putts. Cheema credited his strong start and smart course management for his performance, staying focused despite last week’s results.

Aman Raj mixed an eagle, two birdies, and a bogey to end the day in second. Meanwhile, round one leader Milind Soni dropped to tied seventh after a 74, and reigning champion N Thangaraja is tied 16th. All local Visakhapatnam golfers missed the cut.
