Nice take, Alex!
Wales manager Rob Page announced his 2022 World Cup squad. Page named some star players, who have been central to the Dragon's recent improvements on the international stage.
Here are the two key players to look out for in Wales’ 2022 World Cup squad.
Gareth Bale
Welsh captain and record goalscorer Gareth Bale is the team’s danger man. The LA Galaxy forward has 39 international goals, and he was influential in Wales’ World Cup qualification play-offs in May.
Bale struck twice in the 2-1 semi-final win over Austria. Then, the ex Real Madrid player assisted the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Ukraine.
This season Bale has struggled to hit top form, with two goals in 13 MLS appearances. But, the forward often raises his performance on the international stage.
Aaron Ramsey
Injuries have impacted Aaron Ramsey’s career in recent seasons. However, the midfielder is a favourite under Rob Page and is likely to feature heavily in the World Cup.
With 75 caps and 20 international goals, Ramsey has shown a consistent ability to perform. He has also held a regular spot with French side Nice this season and made 15 appearances in domestic and European competitions.
Ramsey’s technical ability will help a defensive Welsh side on the counter-attack. His experience will also be invaluable in helping the younger squad players.
