The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a reduction in severe cold day conditions over northwest India from January 11, 2024. While dense fog is expected to persist during morning hours in isolated pockets of northwest India over the next four days, conditions are likely to improve gradually. Jammu recorded its coldest day of the season, with temperatures dropping significantly. Delhi also experienced cold day conditions with the maximum temperature settling below normal.

The IMD highlights very dense fog predictions in north Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura. Cold day conditions are expected to continue in parts of North India on January 11 but are anticipated to abate thereafter. No cold wave conditions are foreseen across the country in the next four days. Ground frost conditions are likely in Uttarakhand, and a temperature drop of 2-3°C is anticipated in central and East India.
