Your baby is growing rapidly. They now weigh for about 260g and measure about 15 cm, the length of a small banana. A layer of fat has started developing beneath the skin and their head might be covered with hair.
At 19 weeks, your baby set routine of waking and sleep cycles like a newborn. They sleep for about 18 hours a day and move around for about 6 hours a day.
They start reacting to sounds which come from outside your tummy, so you can read or play music to them and there are chances they will recognise them after they’re born.
Vernix develops
The little one might have a cheesy varnish on them, it's a protective substance which is called as vernix caseosa which covers your fetus skin. It's white, greasy and made up of that downy hair which is known as lanugo, oil from your baby's glands and dead skin cells.
Vernix is there to protect your baby's sensitive skin from their surrounding amniotic fluid. Without it, they'd look very wrinkled at birth.
The vernix sheds out as delivery nears, though some babies especially those who have born early will still be covered with it during birth, so you might get a look at your baby's first anti wrinkle cream.
Tips for this week includes do dome hand stretches, pump up your pillow as you could start snoring, strike a yoga pose, know about yeast infection, indulge in healthy cravings and you can pamper yourself with a manicure or a pedicure (it's absolutely safe).
