What does it mean to be Genderfluid?

Now that gender is becoming more mainstream to talk about, conversations have started happening around the idea of gender fluidity. An individual who is genderfluid means that their gender identity changes- how often, and how exactly they identify, differs between each person.

What does this mean? The same person can go by different pronouns, and present themselves in different ways, according to the gender they identify with that day. So, for example, someone could use he/him pronouns on Monday and by Friday choose to go by they/them instead.

How often someone's identity changes is individual, as well- some people may feel comfortable with a certain gender for days, weeks, or months before their identity changes, while for others it's much more often.

While not all gender fluid people are transgender, some are- everyone's gender identity is fluid and open to change at any time, and the community is growing in acceptance worldwide.
