Dependent personality disorder (DPD) is an inability to be alone and its being over reliant on others for comfort and support. Unlike insecurity, which is common, there's a need for reassurance to function.

Symptoms of DPD
Signs of this disorder include:
• behaving submissive
• For decision making relying upon family and friends
• repeated reassurance
• being easily at others disapproval
• feeling isolated and nervous while being alone
• fearing rejection
• being excessively sensitive to criticism
• a tendency to be naive
• fearing abandonment
Those with DPD will need constant reassurance and they become devastated when relationships and friendships get severed.
When alone, a person with DPD may experience:
• nervousness
• anxiety
• panic attacks
• fear
• hopelessness
