India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma is currently enjoying his time off from cricket. This comes after the Men in Blue won the T20 World Cup 2024 under his leadership in Barbados by beating South Africa in the final on June 29th.
Sharma who was the major reason behind India's success in the T20 World Cup 2024 as he captained the team brilliantly and also led from the front. Throughout the entire tournament, he was top-notch and helped India win the title and end the title drought after 11 years.
He was vital as the captain of the team as under his leadership India didn't lose a single game. They won all their games and went on to win the tournament, becoming the first team ever to win the T20 World Cup without losing a single game in the tournament. They beat South Africa by 7 runs in the final.
However, after that tournament, it was a sad story for fans as Rohit Sharma retired from the T20I cricket. The opening batter said that there was no better time to say goodbye to the format as he always wanted to win the trophy and bid adieu to the format.
With the bat too, Rohit Sharma was on top of his game. He was the leading run-getter for the India National Cricket Team as he scored 257 runs in 8 matches with a strike rate of 156.70. His highest score came in the game against Australia in the Super 8 stage, where he scored 92 runs.
After India won the T20 World Cup 2024, BCCI secretary Jay Shah came up with a massive statement. He confirmed that Rohit Sharma will be captaining the team in the Champions Trophy 2025 as he wished to see India lifting the title.
The Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to take place in Pakistan next year in February-March. Rohit Sharma would be eager to script history and guide his team to another title win after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
