Fabindia, a traditional garments retailer faced severe backlashes for its Diwali collection called 'Jashn-e-Riwaaz' on Monday, October 18.
A young bjp leader from South India said it hurt “Hindu sentiments” and others followed.
The brand deleted the tweet and story went on .

“Deepavali is not Jash-e-Riwaaz” wrote Tejasvi Surya.
“This deliberate attempt of abrahamisation of Hindu festivals, depicting models without traditional Hindu attires, must be called out.
And brands like FabindiaNews must face economic costs for such deliberate misadventures’ he further wrote.
After having lived more than 40 years of my life, I keep wondering are religious beliefs so fragile that an add, a movie , a dialogue can harm them.
I recall as kids in a missionary school the debate in our young mind was whether to say ‘Amen’ or “Ameen” after morning assembly prayers. I wish someone had come to us and told us “skies will not fall if one e is missing “. The meaning remains the same , so does the feeling.
We must have been ten year old so may be this can be pardoned but most people haven’t grown from the mentality of may be the ten year olds.
Although the rant against the brand is part of a systematic othering of a culture , a community a religion but the bigotry sounds not only insane but petty as well.
I want to tell these people Urdu is a native Indian language which originated in Undivided India and had become part of colloquial culture of entire North India irrespective of the religion. How much can a language be killed, it thrives in people hearts. In Galibs verses in Gulzar’s pen. In songs and dance . Urdu is Riwaaz and the Jashn will continue.
