Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD) is a childhood condition which is characterized by severe anger, irritability and frequent temper outbursts. As temper tantrums tends to be quite common among kids, DMDD is more than just normal childhood moodiness. The angry outbursts which kids experience with DMDD are extreme, intense and it can lead to significant disruption in different areas of a child's life.
This condition is a new diagnosis which is appearing for the first time in the fifth edition of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5), which was published in 2013.

To diagnose with disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, a child needs to be between the ages of six and 18.
