Social work is a choice, but there's no harm in lending a hand to someone in need.
Even if it is mandatory, it isn't wrong.
We live in a world where many things are imposed or foisted on someone, and those are of mere importance but social work is!
I think as a child grows, every parent tries to evoke a sense of responsibility in them, to build a duty towards their society and environment.
Implementing rules related to social work would give those children and people the opportunity to ingrain these values in a better way.
We have a lot left to do to eradicate the prejudices and biases lingering in our society, and making social work mandatory will improve it.
At least a group of minds would be prepared to alleviate poverty, unemployment, unequal opportunity, malnutrition and, of course, racism.
What's wrong with sowing seeds of compassion and empathy?
