Ugh. Yeah I'll just avoid this now...
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has completed its Phase 4, paving the way for Phase 5. It would be no exaggeration to say that Phase 4 more or less has been a disaster when it comes to bringing quality movies, delivering the lowest common denominator in the name of cheap, pathetic and braindead entertainment.
This can be seen in movies and serials, be it Thor: Love and Thunder, She Hulk: Attorney at Law, Ms. Marvel, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Shang Chi or Eternals. Each has been as disappointing as it could get, with the only exceptions being Spider Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange 2 and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
As to what can be expected from Phase 5, quality wise expecting nothing is the best expectation, as it is hard to imagine they can sink any lower, while it is hard to expect any sort of improvement in quality or going back to the style of Iron Man or Avengers: Infinity War given the thick skulls of those working in Disney.
As for its nature, Phase 4 was more of a transition phase as it did not end up in any big team ups like the Avengers but was more of an introductory phase to introducing different arcs for old heroes as well as introduce new heroes, it’s only a pity that it was done so horribly.
Phase 5 will be more or less the same thing which will introduce will introduce new arcs for character such as Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Loki while some new characters will be making their way to the MCU, such as Adam Warlock, Cassie Lang as Stature, Blade, Ironheart and Kraven the Hunter among others.
As such, 2023 is going to be a pivotal year for the MCU, as it marks the start of Phase 5, which apart from introducing a few new characters will focus on laying the foundation for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. For all that they may introduce, there is nothing to be excited about, for it will still be braindead, stupid, cringe and utterly worthless.
