Did you know this??
We know becoming a mother is a rollercoaster of hormones but the same can also be said when becoming a father! Testosterone is the hormone that is commonly thought of when we talk about male hormones (note women have it too - it's not strictly a male hormones).
When a man becomes a father for the first time, his testosterone levels drop and they will not bounce back to pre-birth levels. The reason for this drop is thought to be to motivate men to move their focus from mating (during which high testosterone levels are seen) to parenting and being more present in the family unit. Men with lower testosterone are found to be more sensitive parents. They're better attuned to their child's needs and quicker to be motivated to respond to their cues.
It's not just mums who go through big changes!
