When taken as a mental health issue, claustrophobia needs special attention that most people tend to avoid and ignore.
Being ignorant and oblivious to some facts makes it difficult to get better treatment.
Most importantly, people should know their feelings, including their physical and emotional symptoms.
Although symptoms of claustrophobia are similar to that of anxiety and panic attacks.
Physical symptoms may include Sweating or shaking, tightness in the chest or rapid heartbeat, trouble breathing or breathing fast.
Others can be chills or flushing (red, hot face), choking feeling, upset stomach or feeling “butterflies” in your stomach, dizziness, feeling faint or lightheaded, dry mouth, feeling confused or disoriented, numbness or tingling, ringing in your ears, crying, tantrums, freezing or clinging in.
Emotional symptoms also make it difficult for the person with this phobia.
This can include Fear of losing control, Fear of fainting, feelings of dread, overwhelming anxiety, an intense need to leave the situation, and fear of dying.
