Wow! Do these stores deliver online or are they listed on Amazon/Flipkart?
India is not a country that is well-known for harvesting chocolate yet we are all aware of our favourite Indian chocolates whether it is Dairy Milk, 5 star, Bar one & the list goes on.. But these are not the chocolates I am referring to.
When anyone is looking for chocolate that doesn't come in colourful packaging, the first thing that comes to mind is Ooty Chocolates.
Ooty is a hillstation that is situated in Tamil Nadu that is known for its carrots, tea plantations and homemade chocolates. From assorted nuts to mints and pralines, they have a wide range of stores and flavours that will exceed your expectations when it comes to chocolates. Whether it is valentines day or not, everyone who visits Ooty is most likely to leave with a box of chocolates. Pun intended.
My two favourite stores that have been in Ooty town and expanded since the 90s include Modern Stores & Kings. Their chocolates are to die for!
Over the years, the popularity of Ooty chocolates has grown mainly due to word of mouth and experience. Growing up in a boarding school in Ooty, we were always excited to walk around Charring Cross and visit these stores to indulge in all that rich sweetness. Just writing about it is making me drool.
Ooty chocolates today are easily available on online websites and can be directly delivered to your house but from my experience, it's best eaten in Ooty in that cold sweater weather which leaves you craving for more!
Have you ever tried Ooty chocolates? What are your thoughts? Comment below or even name your favourite Indian chocolates so I can give it a shot!
