Heart attack was not a common disease but after the spread of the Coronavirus, the cases of heart attack rose terrifically.
The number of heart attacks has almost doubled and increasingly younger patients with comorbid conditions like uncontrolled diabetes and smoking are believed to be at the highest risk. Pre-covid incidence of heart attacks in a month were 15-18, which has increased to 30-35 in a month's time, Dr. Dr. Viveka Kumar, Principal Director and Chief of Cath Labs, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, told India Today.
What is more concerning is that India already is more vulnerable to heart diseases and sees more cardiovascular deaths than global average.

According to a study, the risk of heart attack was higher among people who had severe Covid-19 than those who did not suffer from it. Health experts told us that severe Covid survivors should avoid lifting heavy objects, climbing stairs, running, playing sports
Severe Covid-19 patients should avoid overwork and overexercise for a number of reasons. The virus can weaken the heart and lungs. Covid-19 can damage the heart muscle and lungs, making it difficult for the body to deliver oxygen to the tissues.
Dr Pawan Kumar Goyal Senior Consultant- Internal Medicine, Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh says there is some evidence that Covid-19 may be linked to an increased risk of heart attacks.
