Turns out that porn is actually not unhealthy for women, in fact it may even be beneficial.
A study conducted among women in committed relationships who use porn found that those who watch sexually explicit materials can have better sexual and relationship outcomes.
The study titled 'Women in Relationships and Their Pornography Use: A Systematic Review and Thematic Synthesis' was published in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy.
According to it's findings, women watched pornography for diverse reasons: to feel sexually empowered, to enhance sexual arousal, and for masturbation purposes.
Shared use of pornography with partners provided variety in sexual activities, could aid communication about sexual issues and helped improve intimacy. Pornography use also helped some women feel sexually empowered, relaxed and better able to enjoy their sexual lives.
The study echoes the findings of an Indian study published recently in the Journal of Psychosexual Health--that sex education with porn can help in the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTI) in sexually active women.
UTI is one of the most common causes of morbidity in women. They account for 25% of all the infections in women. Though the recurrence of UTI is more common in women with anatomical abnormalities, there are many instances, wherein the women with normal urogenital anatomy suffer from recurrent UTIs.
