All eyes are on India as they play second match of Super 8 match of T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua on Saturday, June 22.
But rain might play spoilsports as India take on Bangladesh today.
Two of the last three T20 World Cup 2024 matches in Antigua have seen rain interruptions. On the Super 8 match between Australia and Bangladesh on Friday, the second innings was halted after 11.2 overs. Australia won the match by 28 runs through the DLS method.
Rain showers have been predicted by AccuWeather from 2:00 AM to 3:00 AM in Antigua. The sky is expected to clear out and stay as it is until another round of thunderstorms from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Notably, the India vs Bangladesh Super 8 match is scheduled to kick off at 10:30 AM local time.
It would be 'partly sunny' from 11 AM onwards as per AccuWeather with no rain. However, the predicted precipitation level will come below 45 percent only after 12:00 PM. It would remain close to 30 percent until 3 PM. Thunderstorms have also been predicted from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
With an expected humidity level of 75-80 percent, the temperature in North Sound, Antigua would hover around 31 degree celsius. The wind speed at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium would be close to 19 km/h.
India will qualify for the semi-final if they beat Bangladesh in the match. Both the sides should have played a minimum of five-over each for a result to be decided through the DLS method in case of rain.
If a five-over per-side game is also not possible, India and Bangladesh would be forced to share a point each. India will have three points from two matches, while Bangladesh one from two. India are slated to play their third and final Super 8 match against Australia on Monday, June 24. Bangladesh have their last Super 8 match against Afghanistan on Tuesday, June 25.
