The absolute urge I feel to say yes, religion should be wiped out is tempting. However, I am an advocate of choice and I want people to be able to choose what they want to do. That would mean no indoctrination, by the theist or the atheist. It's just that simple.
As a woman, I want my fellow girls to be able to feel safe despite their religious beliefs. Trying to wipe out religion will not only take away their choice from them but also their safety because an atheist with power is no better than a theist with power.
That being said, I personally do hate the concept of religion. I believe we would need a lot more work than simply wiping out religion. For example, resistance. A person should be able to CHOOSE whether they wanna believe or not but most of our beliefs come from indoctrination, especially when it comes to religion.
And major reform! Most religions are, no offense, effed up when it comes to human rights. I think instead of eradicating them we should go towards the direction of modernizing them. Changing them.
While I do wish for a religion-free world, I can't help but think how history has responded to people's religion being threatened. Violence breaks everytime you try to take away someone's faith from them and that, my friend, is the last thing that should happen to the world on a large scale.
