When people say crimes against women are politicised, I have a simple take. My concern is welfare of the women, saving and protecting them from violence, ensuring an environment they feel safe in. Politicisation of these crimes are miniscule obstacles which come in the way. Someone is simply trying to take advantage because the perpetrator in this case belongs to a certain community. We should not get disturbed and diverted because of those `idiotic' onbstacle , This is propaganda which serves some vested interests. However even with this, the fact remains that violence is being address .
As a woman I am concerned had Shraddha been advised don't think about society, about your family, just go point it out, call the man out. It might mean your decision will be proved wrong but we make many decisions which go wrong. Please raise your voice, she might have been alive.
There has to be` first objection to first violence'.
Even if someone aggressively reacts to anything you say, it is the first red flag. Immediately caution yourself that you are in a bad company, disassociate from that company as soon as possible. Be it raising of voice or raising of hand, you have to object to it. It is also important for people around that person to react. If any of Shraddha's friends who say they knew of the abuse, would have acted or gone to lodge a complaint against this person, she would have been saved. Registering a complaint is the last thing, one should not even go back to the same room as the abuser.
If you think about ``what will the society say'', just remember will the society come to your rescue when you are suffering . In the name of you society, you are constantly worried and concerned about people who should not matter to you otherwise.
