Over a ton (1000 kg) of plastic waste was collected from Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after the cricket World Cup final match between India and Australia on November 19, which saw more than a lakh spectators.
Now, an NGO has recycled the plastic waste into 10 benches and reflector jackets, and handed them over to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, as reported by IndiaToday.
Fifty kilograms of plastic waste were used to make each bench. These benches, given to the civic body, will soon be installed in parks and gardens across Ahmedabad.
Ten plastic bottles were used to make one reflector jacket, which will be distributed to the cleaning staff under the municipal corporation.
The majority of the waste collected from the stadium consisted of plastic bottles.
