Am I seeing double? Looks like this has been posted again
It's not the first time that the server of Instagram, Whatsapp, and Messenger has done down worldwide. Many instances have occured in the lockdown itself. However, this time, it seems like an endless wait.
I personally switched off my mobile atleast twice, double checked my internet connection, switched on my mother's Mobile's hotspot, and was almost in the verge of recharging my data pack again when a pop-up on my screen from the news headlines made me aware about the situation.
It's almost been three hours now and it does feel weird to not be able to interact on these apps that have become an integral part of our routine now, both formally and informally. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in feeling a sense of FOMO, mood swings, and a hint anxiety. Thanks to Pixstory, Snapchat, Twitter, Discord, and many such apps that have saved us from getting a complete existential crisis!
This kept me wondering - How drastic of a role social media has been playing in our lives, especially in the lockdown. Our routines and emotions indeed have been affected quite heavily.
Yes, there are various psychological and scientific explanations to it, but being a part of this collective emotion at this very moment is .... Moving.
Anyway, I'll just be waiting for the memes and conspiracy theories to pop up on the silicon valley apps after these apps get back to normal.
