Australia were the first team to qualify for the ICC World Test Championship 2023 Final. They had a brilliant run in the longest format in the last two years and are the deserving finalists. They will face India at the Kennington Oval in London.
David Warner has been the mainstay of Australia’s batting lineup since making his debut in 2011. Warner has a decent record against India, having scored 1174 runs in 20 Tests at an average of 31.72. He will be looking to contribute for his side in the WTC Final.
Ahead of the final, have a look at David Warner’s three best knocks against India.
#3 145 – 1st Test, Adelaide (December 9 - 13, 2014)
The first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014 was played at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. Australia opted to bat first and David Warner led the charge at the top of the order. He scored at a brisk rate and brought up his hundred in no time. The Indian bowlers went on a journey as the southpaw scored 145 off 163 balls which included 19 fours. His knocked helped the hosts put a massive first innings score of 517.
#2 180 – 3rd Test, Perth (January 13 – 15, 2012)
A fiery pitch at the WACA in Perth greeted both sides. India were knocked over on 161 and what followed was a batting masterclass from David Warner. The swashbuckling opener came out all guns blazing and hit 20 fours and five maximums to score 180 off just 159 balls. He missed out on a well-deserved ton but was awarded the player of the match award for his blinder of an innings.
#1 102 – 1st Test, Adelaide (December 9 - 13, 2014)
David Warner had already smashed a century in the first innings of the first Test at the Adelaide Oval and hit another in the second innings. He hit 11 fours and a maximum to score 102 off 166 balls. It remains one of his best knocks in the longest format as it came right after his dear friend Philip Hughes’ death.
