India defeated Australia in a Test series at home to qualify for the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023. They will face Australia at the Kennington Oval in London and the ultimate Test will begin from June 7.
The Indian pacers have been tremendous in recent times. Led by Mohammed Shami, they have instilled fear in the opposition batters. Shami has picked up 40 wickets in 11 Tests against Australia at an average of 31.27. He will look to add a few more when he takes the field in the WTC Final.
On that note, here are the three best spells of Mohammed Shami against Australia.
#3 6/56 – 2nd Test, Perth (December 14 - 18, 2018)
The second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2018 was played at the WACA Ground in Perth. The track at the WACA assists pacers and Mohammed Shami was in full swing in the second innings. He was sensational and troubled the Australian batters. He finished with six wickets in 24 overs and was instrumental in knocking over the hosts on 243. He bowled a total of eight maidens in the second innings.
#2 4/60 – 2nd Test, Delhi (February 17 - 19, 2023)
India took an early lead in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 by winning the first Test comprehensively. In the second Test held in Delhi, Australia were knocked over on 263 in the first innings, thanks to a brilliant spell of bowling from Mohammed Shami. He ran through the batting lineup of the Aussies and finished with figures of 4/60 in 14.4 overs.
#1 5/112 – 4th Test, Sydney (January 6 - 10, 2015)
Mohammed Shami registered their first fifer against Australia in Tests in the New Year Test 2015 at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. Australia batted first and piled up runs and declared their innings at 572/7 but Shami was outstanding with the ball. He picked up five wickets and conceded 112 runs in 28.3 overs. The right-arm pacer also picked up a wicket in the second innings as the game ended in a draw.
