India have taken giant strides in developing their pacers in recent times and they have played a key role in them winning series overseas. Umesh Yadav has a fantastic record in Tests, especially against Australia. He has picked up 51 wickets in 16 matches so far and will be raring to go in the WTC final.
Have a look at Umesh Yadav’s three best spells against Australia in Test matches.
#3 3/106 – 1st Test, Melbourne (December 26 - 29, 2011)
India toured Australia for a series in 2011. The first Test was held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne and Australia scored 33 after electing to bat first. Umesh Yadav was brilliant with the ball for India. He picked the big wickets of David Warner, Shaun Marsh and Ricky Ponting and finished with figures of 3/106 in 26 overs. He also bowled five maidens and played a key role in knocking over the Aussies.
#2 4/70 - 1st Test, Melbourne (December 26 - 29, 2011)
Umesh Yadav picked up three wickets in the first innings of the first Test at MCG and carried forward his form with the ball in the second innings. He blew away the Australian top-order with his searing pace and swing. He picked up four wickets and gave away 70 runs in 20 overs. He made full use of the conditions at the MCG but failed to get his name on the honors board.
#1 5/93 – 3rd Test, Perth (January 13 - 15, 2012)
Australia were exceptional in 2012 as they whitewashed the Indian side in the four-match Test series. In the third Test at the WACA in Perth, Indian batters faltered but Umesh Yadav stepped up with the ball in hand. He picked up a fifer, giving away 93 runs in 17 overs. The right-arm pacer bowled beautifully with the new ball and helped his side dismiss the Aussies on 369.
