"You are going to dominate world cricket," Gambhir's words on a young Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has dominated the game for a while now. The Indian batter is the only batter to smash three double hundreds in ODI Cricket, and is the current captain of the Indian side in all three formats. Former Indian batter Gautam Gambhir offered words of encouragement to Rohit Sharma back in his younger days when he was struggling to get runs. He came under criticism after poor outings in the series against Sri Lanka.

"As much knowledge as I have of cricket, and from the cricket that I've seen, you are going to dominate world cricket. "If his start was very easy, he would have always felt that international cricket is very easy," Gambhir remarked. "Today, if any young player is struggling, Rohit Sharma will feel that if it was tough for him, it will be difficult for him as well. That's why he probably leads that well and keeps it very balanced."

Gautam Gambhir also spoke about the importance of Rohit Sharma's knocks at the T20I World Cup in 2007 which India won.

"People talk about my knock and Irfan's spell, but Rohit Sharma's contribution towards the back end, his run out against South Africa, are all the memories I have of him. I've enjoyed playing with him and interacting with him."
