Totally agree! I also remember people getting shoved into unmarked vans. I guess the fact that 84% of police voted for Trump in 2016 explains a lot in both cases.
Thank you for this! The misinformation and lies needs to be dispelled.
The Black Lives Matter movement is in response to police brutality and the racist killing of innocent lives. The Capitol Hill riots was in denial of a legal and verified vote. It was attempted insurrection against American democracy by a violent mob.
The rioters who stormed Capital Hill were motivated by a simple story- that the election was stolen. There is no truth in this story and there never had been. Every time it met a courtroom or a fact-checker, it fell apart like the pack of lies it is.
In June hundred of thousands of people across the world peacefully protested the murder of an innocent black man George Floyd who was added to a long tally of Black Americans who have died at the hands of police officer.
You are right that the BLM protests resulted in deaths- but these deaths were a result of police force against the protestors. A force that the Capitol Hill rioters did not face.
I’m not sure where you’re getting your sources from, but the objective of BLM is to ‘eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.’
I think the only thing we can agree on is the hypocrisy in the response to the two. A peaceful protest in streets was met with tear gas and thousands of arrests. An attempted take over and destruction at the Capitol Hill was met with minimum resistance.
