Young Indian sailors bag seven medals at Mussanah Race Week in Oman.
Young Indian sailors showcased impressive performances at the Mussanah Race Week in Oman, earning seven medals: one gold, four silver, and two bronze. In the Optimist Girls U-15 category, Shreya Krishna Lakshminarayanan clinched gold with a net score of 28 points, while Kommaravelly Lahari secured silver with 50 points. Singapore’s Tong Xuan Ya took bronze.
In the ILCA-4 U-16 category, Shashank Batham won silver with 14 net points, narrowly missing gold, while Akshat Kumar Dohare earned bronze with 29 points. Oman’s Abdulatif Ziyad Al Qasim claimed gold in this category.
In the ILCA-4 Girls U-16 category, Soumya Singh Patel and Shagun Jha took silver and bronze, respectively, with 39 and 49 points. UAE’s Marwa Al Hammadi won gold with 31.5 points.
In the ILCA-6 Girls U-19 category, Maanya Reddy won silver with 74 net points, just behind the UAE’s Camelia Al Qubaisi, who finished with 77 points.
The event featured 106 sailors from Oman, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Thailand, Singapore, and India, competing in various age-group categories from October 4-7.
